Lake Monticello, Texas From: StratosGary (74.226.8.47), Alabama
I have been to Lake Monticello in Texas if this is the one that you're referring to. We would take a trip out there every spring. My great uncle lived 1/4 mile from the lake and had a lodge to stay in. We fished mainly above the steam plant using senkos and spinnerbaits and caught alot of fish in the 3-5 lb. range. There is a slot limit on this lake of 14-21 inches. You can keep anything under 14 inches and anything over 21 inches. A 21 inch fish was averaging about 6 lbs. Fish the upper end under the bridge but be careful there are stumps everywhere. Hope this helps! Recommend going during the week. Fishing pressure has been bad this year. Plz practice catch and release on this lake. Fish are pretty much in their summer mode now.
