Was hoping to hit it this Sunday, but weather doesn't look favorable. Crescent, Wentworth, Grafton , or Deering? From: Twins (206.183.140.244), New hampshire Hi All, I was able to schedule Friday off to take my teen son out fishing. We love to sight fish. I've been to Grafton and Deering REs. (though neither this year). Weather looks cool and I PRAY , please no wind. I have heard good things about Wentworth and Crescent. If my son and I want to sight fish beds, etc. and avoid winds(low set lake or islands to fish behind. Wher do you guys(Darren and Chris B) suggest we hit Friday morning, especially considering Crescent and Wentworth. Never been there. I live in Pinardville(goffstown and have small 12 fooetr with 8 hp on it i sometimes yank off for the no gas ponds. Advice welcome. We love to fish topwater(hence hate wind). From: Darren (76.19.31.45), New hampshire In my opinion, some of the best bed fishing is at Waukewan. Plentiful SM beds typically in 8-10 feet. With a decent pair of polarized glasses they are easily spottable and dont spook like LM. (plenty of action to keep the young ems busy) I drove by the launch at Deering today, they are working on the damn and it looked like launching ANY boat right now would be difficult. ChrisB is the one to talk to about Crescent/Wentworth. He has been there this year and can give a better insight than I. Good Luck. Went to wentworth this afternoon From: ChrisB (152.163.101.5), New hampshire It was really cold & cloudy, but I still managed to boat around 30 (mostly SM's) with the biggest only being 4lb's. Some of them have moved onto beds & some are still cruising the flats. For some reason i think there arent that many big (4+lb's) SM's in there, or I needed to find deeper flats off transitions that may have held them??? Anyway, my friend hit around 20 himself & it was a good day. We hit some good fish in Crescent including a monster crappie 2+lb's & a pike-like pick that was easily 5.5lb's.(not to mention a 3.5sm & 7 ish lm's from minnow to 3.5lb's. Anyhow, I don't know if you read the other post but I don't think Deering is possible. The water seems low. Have you ever put in at the town launch? I have a 21' boat and don't think I can float it. Do you know something about this launch I don't? That being said, I think I will shoot for Waukewan on Sun. You have a partner? Perhaps a little friendly competition? Of course for bragging rights only. I will check out the weather and make a decision tom. Let me know. Sounds good...
