raccoon lake From: littlecritter (152.163.101.5), Indiana
I fished in the fishers of men tournament on the 19th of May and I did not fair well but several teams caught a 5 fish limit. I'm not very familiar with the lake so it was very tough for me. Water temp was in the upper sixties for the most part and I spent most of the day trying to find a pattern that would work for me. The water north of the 36 bridge was somewhat more dirty than south of the bridge. I think now looking back I would stay south of the bridge or in the western branch of Raccoon. We caught only three short fish and they all came from the same bay. The biggest was a 14 inch fat egg laden female. The minimum size on Raccoon is 16 inches so we blanked. Looking back I believe I would concentrate on spinner baits in white and chartreuse and green pumpkin jigs around any rocky points and drops. My short fish came on green pumpkin senko's in shallow coves of bays. I didn't give them something they could see very well and that was a mistake. It seemed the clearer the water the better the bite. I don't know the lake well enough to give you more info. |
