I was there last night. Caught one small bass. I think it would be better fishing from a boat and casting toward the structure along the shore. Not the greatest place to fish in my opinion. Swains Pond Melrose, MA From: Jeannine (24.61.56.229), Massachusetts I fished there all of last year and have found that fishing was the best in late July/early August for that pond. I have caught small and large mouth bass, calico bass, pickerel, catfish, and eel in there. I have gone there a couple times this year, and even though I have seen bass in the water, I have only caught one small calico bass and a pickerel. Good Luck! swains trip From: Jjl (24.91.242.69), Massachusetts I tried swains today. I thought with the overcast skies the fishing may be good. I used my castable sonar to map out a few nice deep dropoff areas. Caught 5 bass, all under 2lbs. All fish showed quite a bit of mouth scarring, so the fishing pressure must be high or not many fish left. All in all a dissapointing trip. Any other fishing spot ideas? On my way there I saw a sign for Spot pond boat rentals. Anyone know what kind of boats u can rent? |
