The most important thing you need know is the weather. You want make sure the day you on big Q is not too windy. You want less than 10 mph wind gust. If you are on the rental boat, it is very hard to fish in windy days. You want find water 5-15 feet deep with some weeds. Spinnerbait, crankbaits should work. Big Q fishry is overrated in my opinion...Wachusett reservior is a much better place for smallies. But, it is shore fishing only...sigh.
