Wateree Stripers From: PiratesAboard (76.3.70.74), North carolina
I too was down late Sunday through yesterday 11/5. We also had a wonderful striper day Sunday. Alot of birds, and huge, I mean huge baitballs. I didn't know Wateree held 18# stripers, my brother in law lives on the lake and we fish it a lot for them so that beats us by a good ways. We found birds, busting bait and the underneath busters Sunday about 3:30-4 pm and went to town. On Wateree you watch the birds. We caught, doubled up twice. When we were resetting and getting ourselves back in shape for another pass these yahoos in a bass boat come blasting in right in the middle of the birds and bait. They did not come to fish, they proceeded to gun it and perform two wide circles in the water, right in the bait and birds, then sped off. They went next up about 1/4 mile behind a pontoon that was anchored, did the same thing to them, and sped off. Needless to say, our catching stopped right at a peak and perfect time. I've never seen something so blatant and do not understand the mentality of it. We fished Monday and caught two nice sizers, 4-5# and let them go. I'm still steaming over those two guys, I have spent a lot of time on the water and never have seen anything so blatant, irresponsible and clearly intentional. I did not catch the brand on the boat, wish I had.

Lake Wateree From: Bill (75.143.208.130), North carolina
Glad to see someone else get into the action!! There are some very big stripers in Wateree, they are just hard to come by. That was my biggest in 15 years on the lake, he actually ate a small wite bass that was chasing my pop-r before he ate my pop-r, talk about a thrill!! We pretty much had the lake to ourselves because of the ramp closures so we didn't run into any knuckle heads. I hate that happened, there are some good people on Wateree, hate to see one bonehead ruin your fishing!!

Which ramps are closed?
Stripers on Wateree From: PiratesAboard (76.3.70.74), North carolina
You are right about the good people on that lake. My brother in law has been on the lake now 4 seasons, I get down to fish with him maybe half dozen times a year. We typically do well with the stripers, this year has been a little anemic for both of us and he by himself. Sunday late was perfect conditions, great fall striper fishing and yes we were very disappointed those guys saw fit to ruin it not only for us, but I suspect they didn't help whoever was in the pontoon. Maybe at least one of them will read this thread, realize how screwed up their actions were and learn to appreciate their comrades more and the fishery Wateree provides... We will be watching.

The only ramps open were Colonel Creek and Dutchmens creek, the others were either closed or were just to low to launch anything other than a jon boat.

Bill could you tell us where most of the schooling action was ,at the dam, colonel creek,or even farther up? A friend of mine caught some small 12-14 inch fish schooling up around wateree creek a week or so back.>Thanks
Lake Wateree From: Bill (75.143.208.130), North carolina
Most of the schooling activity we got into was in the Clearwater and Colonel Creek areas.
