I am not sure what they are waiting on, the last I heard it was to open in January 2008. I did hear it was full of water, the dam has been completed for a long time. Lake Ft. Smith From: J-Doc (70.241.39.18), Arkansas I heard the same thing that it would open Jan. 2008. I emailed the people in charge of the park and they verified this back in June 07. I just emailed them again to confirm. I'll update here when I get a response. I also asked if it will be re-stocked. From what I can tell on Google Earth, the lake looks terribly green so I think the fishing may be tough for a year or two until it settles more. That image could be a year old too though so, I will see for myself after I launch the boat when it opens! (haha) Lake Ft. Smith - March 08 From: J-Doc (70.241.39.18), Arkansas Just got word back from the state park rep. The ramp park will open in March 2008. They say there is too much construction remaining to open in Jan. I'm guessing it's minor construction issues, restrooms, sidewalks, paving, etc. and not the dam itself.
