have any suggestions for bank fishing in the new river valley, va to wv sounds like you guys are killin em! location, water speed, depth thanks keep bringin those smallies in. reply From: maddog (76.122.241.22), West virginia Find deep(over 3 feet) slow water and fish a jig slowly. The better spots are relatively small deep holes in areas where there isn't a lot of deep water available. The best area for me this year has been one hole about 5-6 feet deep that is maybe 30 yards long and 20 yards wide. This hole is located in a bend of New river and the river above and below for 1/2 mile each direction has no other deep holes. It is a magnet for wintering smallies. I have caught at least one fish every time I've hit it and while I havn't caught any real pigs out of it, YET, I've got one 3-4 and one 3-0 out of it along with several between 2-4 and 2-15. |
