Lower Delta Fishing Conditions From: Bob Ward #10250, Alabama
Thanks for the report, Jeff. I got out with my neighbor for five hours today and found conditions in the lower Delta as tough as they were for you Saturday, except it was a warm, spring day and every enjoyable to be on the water. Air temp almost 70, water temp mid 60s, overcast most of the afternoon, incoming tide until 3 PM and very little wind. Very high, muddy water though. We were about to give up with only one bare keeper at 4 PM when we found actively feeding fish in the slightly clearer water in the back of Bay Minnette Basin. We made one pass, caught 8 decent keepers on a chartreuse spinnerbait and called it quits at 5 PM. Best 5 less than 8 pounds but it was fun to finally catch a few fish. With more rain predicted the water is sure to remain muddy but the fish are definitely in the bays in a spawning mood. |
