I am fortunate.... From: S.O.B. Fishing Products , Texas
to have been the "great friend" that Stainless fished with today !!! We just formally met last week and I am happy to say that he is one neat guy !!! Prouder to know that he considers me a "great friend". I consider him the same ! He has a ton of knowledge about this "Little Lake Amistad" and he is more than willing to share that knowledge with anyone he meets or talks fishing with. I read here lately that someone doubted his abilities due to a report he made about catching 84 fish in one day. After sharing my boat with him for a day, I know he was SPOT ON with his tabulation. He has a watch that has some type of tabulating feature in it. I noticed (while he was spanking my butt catching fish) that EVERY time he or I would catch a fish, he would press something on his watch. He explained to me that he was tabulating the days catch. At the end of the day, he can scan the info and not only tell how many fish were caught, but he can tell at what time each fish was caught. Being a spinnerbait guy, I had not done much drop shotting until today. Stainless showed me exactly how to rig up and then showed me how to fish it, even talking me through the first bite...after that, I was hooked and at one point went 5 for 5 !!! Anyway, as Stainless said above, we had a good time and caught a bunch of fish (30 in 4 1/2 hrs)and really enjoyed the day !! Thanks a TON, Stainless !!! You are da' MAN !! We launch out of state park most of time. How about you guys? what are you fishing out of? I'm running a red Ranger with a evindude so if you happen to come by stop and chat. I have a white Bass Cat with a Merc 200 on it and my S.O.B. Lures.com logo near the back, so I'm pretty hard to miss. I will be glad to share what little I know when we can meet. I usually launch out of the old Air Force marina(small world)...how long ago did you run it ?? Did you ever know a guy named Bill Hunter ?? He's an old friend of mine. I was at the Af marina for over a year until we closed it. I left in Feb. of the year it was closed. That was the time the lake was like 50 ft low, no ramps open, no swimming areas around and the only boats on the lake were the ones living on the lake. I'll keep an eye open for the Bass Cat! Went yesterday and big mistake...WIND!! It got dangerous out there. my partner's foot kicked the fuel selector switch to off right after we came out of the windmill cove into the north wind. Almost swamped us before we could get back into the calmer area of the cove. had two 16" b.b. and 2 whites that hit on a buzzbait. See ya on the lake!! |
