Very true; no common sense. But also, it's important to be on the look out and have your horn ready. Yesterday took my wife and daughter out for a cruise. We were no-waking out from the ramp and my daughter saw a jet ski about 300 yards out. His speed was 10mph and coming in aus about 11 O'clock. As she called him out to me, I saw him too, but figured he'd see me and move right. I was wrong. I don't use my horn a lot, and there is something counter-intuitive about a toggle switch to sound your horn. Well, suffice to say he was within hollering distance before he finally "look-up." He must have been fixated on instrument panel for some reason. If he had any significant speed there would have been no way to stop him. I guess it was his lack of speed that caused me not to respond immediately by moving out of his path. As he turned off to the port side of my craft, I just shook my head. He surely didn't apologize...just had a dopey smile on his face. What can you say? At least he wasn't talking on a cell phone. LOL! I'm going to see if I can get my horn hooked to the steering wheel.
