Re: Delaware From: TomM #10219, Pennsylvania
it'll be largemouth below Trenton. You can run up the Schuylkill and catch smallies there. I don't fish the D often, but any marina usually gives up a few fish. The fish move out to the main river in the summer and will hang on the downstream side of any cover. Just remember downstream applies in both directions because of the tides.

Is there a bunch of structure in the channel such as rocks, wood. Also what do you find the most effective presentation? What is the best tide to fish?
Channel From: TomM #10219, Pennsylvania
I wouldn't fish the channel. One, it's pretty deep, two, it's relatively narrow, three, other boat traffic. I do best on the high to falling tide fishing shallow with fast moving baits such as spinnerbaits, crankbaits, top water. After that, I'm lost when it comes to tidal fishing. hehe
Tides From: Procraft190 #13359, Pennsylvania
I just started fishing tides and don't quite understand them myself. I have a tourney there in a few weeks and looking to get back out there and learn the water. I have been told that the tide runs fast and you can get stranded on shallow shoals. I guess the only way to find out is to get out there.

yes, they are fast and powerful tides. You'll get a 6 or 7 foot tide change and can/will get stuck somewhere. I've run into pretty skinny water pretty fast but haven't gotten stuck there (yet, LOL).
Rivers From: Procraft190 #13359, Pennsylvania
How often do you fish that area? Where else do you fish? I am mostly a lake fisherman but am switching to some rivers.
D From: TomM #10219, Pennsylvania
Maybe five or six times a year is all. Probably less now though with the price of gas. I usually fish Marsh Creek, Blue Marsh and the Surekill River.
Sure Kill From: Procraft190 #13359, Virginia
I fish the Surekill river quite a bit. I put in at Haws ave. For as nasty as the place looks it sure holds fish!
Surekill From: TomM #10219, Pennsylvania
I haven't been there in two years but used to fish it quite a lot. Gladywn is pretty good too. I fish Black Rock mostly cause it's ten minutes from my house. Lots of small fish there but there's plenty to catch.
Never From: Procraft190 #13359, Pennsylvania
I never fished Gladwyn. Is it decent? I am going up to Beltzville this Sunday and next week I am going to the Delaware. I try to get out every weekend. Have you ever fished Beltzville? Mike
Beltsville From: TomM #10219, Pennsylvania
Only twice and it was probably five years ago. I didn't do well either time. I had nice smallies following crankbaits and spinnerbaits all the way to the boat and couldn't coax a bite. LOL
Beltzville From: Procraft190 #13359, Pennsylvania
It is a hard lake to pattern. Either you do real well or the bite is off. I found that if you get there before the water gets torn up by recreational boats you can get a jump on the fish. Are you going out this weekend?
Beltsville From: TomM #10219, Pennsylvania
I'm going to try and get out of work a bit early and go to Marsh Creek. That'll probably be it for this weekend.
Weekend From: Procraft190 #13359, Pennsylvania
I hear that place is decent. Can you run a big motor in there? Good Luck
