Was wondering if you could tell me about long lake? I have never been? About Long Lake From: JC - Long Lake (12.2.188.50), Wisconsin The lake has been simply overfished and local spearing by the Indian tribes has descimated the walleye population. Ice anglers have destroyed what was once a good blugill and crappie fishery. Good population of large mouth bass, but overharvest has caused the bass population to average about 13" because the size limit is set at 14". The state DNR has included this water in their southern zone so early fishing is allowed. The fish are usually caught off of their spawning beds at this time of year and are not protected. I would suggest a different body of water. I live 20 miles from Long Lake for 35 years and routinely drive over an hour to fish other lakes that have not been as pounded. Overharvest has destroyed this lake that had good fishing until about 1985. Hope this helps. |
