Night Fishing From: BrianH (208.229.240.131), Texas
I've seen people on Ray Roberts at night with their running lights off, too. That is WAY too dangerous, folks. Also, if you have daytime running lights on your truck, you can turn them off by clicking on your parking brake. Don't depress it fully, just one or two clicks. That will shut off your headlights, and it does not really engage the brake. Night fishing on Ray Roberts is really productive, if the wind is not up. I think for most of the summer, that is what I am going to concentrate on.
Night Fishing More Info Please From: RedRanger (4.34.194.240), Texas
I want to start fishing at night myself, since it's starting to get hot. I do pretty good in the day, should I concentrate on my daytime holes (which are fishing in the trees and the stumps). Or do I start looking for drop-offs in the middle of the lake, or secondary lake points. Looking for a little info. Thanks
More Info From: BrianH (208.229.240.131), Texas
I don't fish too much in the stumps and trees at night. Night fishing is eerie enough without having to be startled by running into a tree. I concentrate on main lake areas like humps and points, or flats next to deep water. I suggest if you do want to fish in the trees at night that you get to your spot before dark and wait for night to come. Also, have a good 12v spot light with you to help you negotiate the creeks. Also, keep your tackle simple. I normally only have two rods out when I am night fishing. One with a black spinnerbait, and another with a black worm. Stepping on a rod in a dark boat could ruin your night. In addition, I normally keep my life jacket on because keeping your balance at night in a rocking boat is a little more difficult. Just some advice. Be careful, the lake changes a bunch once the sun goes down.
Night Fishing at Ray Roberts From: Joe Tex (206.103.95.254), Texas
Some of my biggest bass have come at night on a carolina rig with a 1 ounce weight and 10" or larger berkley power worm in the darkest color you can find using a 3 foot leader. I concentrate on the tank dams and humps. Yup, it's always wise to keep your running lights on !!
