senko From: jorilo (205.188.200.166), Massachusetts
Larry - I enjoy your postings. Tell me how do you get the senko down deep. I fish it weightless in more shallow water and I'm quite successful. Do you fish it weightless and wait till it hits the bottom? What if it's windy?

Thanks

senko ? From: Larry, Connecticut
Hi jorilo, yes most of the time it is weightless and it takes forever to hit the bottom. I use 8 and 10 lb Berkley photochromic line and watch it for any movement as it drops on a slack line. If it's windy then I find a grub on a leadhead to be more effective and easier to use. Have fun.
Quabbin gate 43 From: Tom S (64.12.102.21), Connecticut
Larry,

Thanks for your reports. I find them very helpful. I don't get to Quabbin often enough(from CT) but its a fantasic fishery. I also have had great success with Senko's and Fin-S-fish there, but in much shallower water early in the season. I want to make a trip in Sept. What do you mean by "west of the pass"? I am somewhat familiar with gate 43 and gate 31 areas, but I don't know what "the pass" is? Any suggestions on fall fishing is appreciated. Thanks.

West of the Pass From: Ray (206.27.108.195), Connecticut
Hi Tom,

West of the pass is like saying on the west coast. Out of Gate 43 there are two baffle dams. Go out Gate 43 keep on left shore. You will go by the larger of the baffels dams. The west of the pass is on the other side of that dam, but you need to keep following the left shore a long ways till you see a narrow passthat opens up to a large portion of Quabbin. Look behind the sign in sheet area and there is a map on a board that shows the pass marked.

Larry seems to know a lot about Quabbin and I enjoy his postings. But west of the pass is a huge area. Like I said, you might as well say go to the west coast.

Good luck. Ray

Ray,

Thanks for the info. That is like heading for the West Coast. Guess I'll bring my Castaic trout lures. I appreciate the info - Quabbin is a huge and wonderful lake. Thanks.
