Goat Rock From: hooked deep (24.181.4.143), Georgia It's a small lake on the Chattahoochee River that is either in or just north of Columbus, Ga, just south of Lake Harding. goatrock directions From: 300cobra (65.81.41.14), Virginia from lagrange : go 185 south to exit 19 (hwy 315) go right, stay on hwy 315 you will cross over hwy 219 keep going straight about 1 mile you will see a sign on the right "GOAT ROCK MARINA" sign w/ arrow pointing right, go down end of road (you will think you're in a residential area [that you wouldn't want to live] )at deadend turn left follow gravel road (except on top of hills). you will see some mangy looking dogs when you first turn on gravel drive probably lying in road. this is where you start praying you dont meet another vehicle on this narrow drive, luckily few people ever go here!halfway down this road if you listen carefully you may hear the theme music from DELIVERANCE playing softly. at the gate make sure you put your tag # on the envelope with your money($2) and whatever you do dont make them open the gate after dark ($20.00 i think) but it beats shacking up with someone in those campers by the ramp ( a term used VERY loosely)or i'm sure you will know where that DELIVERANCE music is coming from! don't let me scare you because the fishing is good, spots and l/m will kill a pig'n'jig readily. word of caution watch the water level , they move a lot of water in this lake. very little developed shore and almost no trash on the banks. lots of deep water near shore, key in on the rocky banks has worked for me , good luck. |
