3x soft plastics From: Ranger1 (206.148.40.126), Georgia
I have not seen deep diver at little river lately, I havent been in awhile but he is there bright and early during the week while I go to (4letterword). I wanted to ask if you or any one else has tried the new soft plastics (3x)? I bought some yesterday and they appear to be tough but we will see if they produce. tell cowboy that if he wants to keep his spots a secret he needs to tone down that skeeter , its so red i can see him in the s turns when i am at the blockhouse ..good luck at the tourney.
Turn Over From: Phil (67.35.32.248), Georgia
Was noticing a little of that funky foam Saturday but we couldn't decide if it was the first signs of the lake turning over. Water temp was 71 to 72 degrees. I thinking by the end of the week, all doubts about the turn over will be removed.

I've been told that a water temp of around 68 will start the turning.

Tough day for us Saturday.

please explain what you mean by the lake turning over-
turnover and 3x plastics From: nitro97 (68.154.14.63), Georgia
the lake is definitely turning over.we saw signs of this in the galts area and down the turns a bit when we fished the benefit tournament on the 5th.has anyone been up the lake and saw any signs of this?on the 3x plastics,i have used them for about 3 months now and i dont like em.some are hard to rig,and when you leave them in the pack, their shape gets distorted PERMANENTLY!they are supposed to last a loooong time but they get twisted up in the pack, makes no sense.for the record i have used both strike king and terminator, but get some and check em out for yourselves.for a nice break from zoom(still the best) i like to use SIZMIC plastics. they have some different features and i have done well with these!!hope this helps and good luck!!!!!!!!
lake turn over From: bucktail (192.6.2.161), Georgia
I’ll attempt to explain the lake ‘turning over’ (as I understand it). When the upper part of the water gets cooler than the deeper part, it becomes heavier and it sinks. So the 2 bodies of water go into the motion of trading places (gradually). So the temperature, the PH, etc. of the whole water changes all over, thus unstable condition emerges. This apparently confused the heck out of the fish and therefore makes them unpredictable. If you are lucky or skillful, well, if you are lucky :-), you’ll catch lots of them. If you are not lucky but still catch lots of them, you are not one of us normal fishermen :-)
lake turnover From: Tim Johnson (63.25.205.176), Georgia
Turnover occurs in fall as the water temperature decreases on the surface. Cooler water is heavier than warmer water, so the cooler water begins to "sink", which makes the water at bottom rise closer to the surface. This causes the water to have a muddy color, and sometimes the water has a bad smell.

Eentually the water will become the same temperature throughout the water column, and the fish scatter. There is no longer a distinct thermocline, so the fish can be found shallow, deep or anywhere in between because the oxygen level is sufficient for fish, and their food source, at any water depth.

Most articles I have read say to use reaction lures during the turnover, claiming the fish do not feed as actively during the turnover. I have found this to be true.

If you want further information about the turnover, pick up any bass magazine issued in the fall, they all seem to have articles that target turnover and how to find fish or get them to bite. Good luck.
