Pitzen knot From: Basstracker (198.1.36.95), Washington
Hoodoo2,I found the Pitzen knot by using the msn search.Then I tested the knot against the polomar knot(twice only)and the polomar won!I'm still curious so I'll try some more w/ different line & test,and let you know.I hope the polomar prevails because it's easier to tie when it's cold & windy!!! Basstracker the best knots From: Hoodoo2 (4.18.250.103), Idaho Hey Scott, I decided to try a little test of my own, tying swivels on each end of a 2 ft leader,(of 10# test)with different knots.I tried your polomar knot, but didn't like it much as I find it hard to tie also. I tried the Polomar Knot, Orvis Knot, Pitzen Knot, Improved Clinch Knot, Duncan Loop, Trilene Knot, & Cat's Paw Knot. Of all of these the Trilene Knot was the clear winner. It's simple to tie & beat all the other knots head to head, I give it an A+. The Pitzen Knot & Polomar Knot were about the same to me, both are hard to tie & about the same strength. I give them both a B-. The Orvis Knot & Cat's Paw are a little hard to tie but not very strong. I give them a D+. The Improved Clinch Knot that I've been using rated the weakest of all the knots I tried but it is the easiest to tie, still a good knot for most conditions, so I gave it a C-. From now on I'll be using the Trilene Knot as much as I can. It's very similar to the Improved Clinch Knot but over twice as strong. It works with the braided lines too I've read. Best knot From: Brian (134.50.232.190), Idaho I find the Uni knot is best. I use a number of other knots too. My line rarley breaks at the knot. The best way to keep your line from breaking is to check your line for damaged and retie often. |
