Doc, the grass gets pretty bad, but thats really good. The more grass the more bass..
Castaic Lagon From: Jeff (206.175.153.4), California
Doc, I used to fish that lower lake alot with a tube before I got my boat and had some awesome days out there. The grass will get really bad in the next few months but if you know how to work it to your advantage you can catch lots of fish from the grass.
bassin' & grassn' From: Doc of BH (64.167.15.208), Virginia
Thanks for the info..I'll keep at it. I'm pretty good at swimming jigs, using Ika's and vertical drop shotting in the grass...is there anything else I might pick yous guys brains for grassin' bassin'? Is it worth throwing topwaters or rippin' cranks? Thanks
A few tips for catching bass in the grass. From: jerryG (24.205.15.208), Virginia
The bass will hide in the grass and use this cove to ambush unsuspecting bait fish. Early and late in the day you if the growth hasn't reached to surface yet you can try throwing top water which is the most exciting method of bass fishing as far as I'm concerned but during these times it can prove to be very productive as well but this bait is very conditional as you probably already know and your success using these baits will be hinged on the water conditions, wind conditions, and your abilities.

Next I would like to recommend some baits which have brought me the most success in matted weed conditions. These all fall under the same catagory and I rely on them as my go to baits from this time of year through september here in So Cal. I'm talking about jerkbaits. Depending on the weed situation your probably going to want stick with the soft weedless jerk baits like the bass assasin, zoom jerk minnow, sluggo's and for slow presentations try the senko. Try senkos when the fish get less active and bite gets tough during the day. Senkos have proven to be the key for unlocking the jaws of finicky bass. All of these baits allow you to fish a lure right over the top or even straight through thick weeds with out getting hung up or mossed. Depending on how you fish them you can sink them down as deep as you need to or even just walk them across the surface. This makes them very versitle. You can fish alot of the water column with a single bait. The walk the dog presentation works very well for presenting these baits. Good luck and keep the reports coming..

plastics From: marc (64.12.96.45), California
do you recommend using power bait plastics for fishing at the lagoon?...what specific type of plastics work best when fishing off shore? i personally never catch anything off the lagoon and figure its because its cause of location and bait....any recommendations?
