night fishing From: mlee (198.81.26.45), California
have you ever tried night fishing at the lagoon and if you did do you ever have any luck?...what do you recommend using to catch bass and smaller sunfish and where do you think is the best location to fish at this time of day?...thx
Answer to mlee From: 918Basser (64.12.96.45), California
No I have not fished there at night yet. One of my buddies has gone a few times and had luck split shotting with oxblood color worms. The only other advice I could give you is from magazines I've read on night fishing and that would be to try black or red spinner baits with one colorado blade. Topwater would probably be another good choice like a pop r, zara spook or buzzbait. My last resort bait for night fishing would be a nightcrawler, you'll catch anything from a bass, catfish, panfish or crap, I mean carp(just for the fight).

I see a lot of panfish that hang around the pier on the lagoon and the reeds although there are only about four spots on the lagoon that have the reeds, the first and closet would be just north of the boat ramp, two spots on the east side of the lake half way down and about 3/4 down as you walk towards the spillway and the last would be on the west side. You can't fish that side and will be chased out by park police and possibly cited but if you have a boat all these spots have produced for me. I've caught the panfish in the past with mealworms, redworms, cut up nightcrawlers and roostertails in rainbow trout and white colors. Good luck

lagoon hours From: Doc of BH (67.118.92.98), California
Anybody... How late can you fish a tube/boat at the lagoon? What's this about nightime 24 hour fishing and from where on the 'goon? Thanks
Answer to hours From: 918Basser (152.163.252.70), California
On the lagoon boats and tubers have to be in the parking lot getting ready to leave by 8PM right now. Throughout the year to make this easier, the lake is open from dawn to dusk.

In regards to your question about 24hr fishing, on the east side of the lagoon there are campground sites and you could fish this part of the lake, off shore, 24hrs.
