Long time ago From: Doc of BH (67.118.93.5), California Hey evil Long time ago..what's that? Years? Months? 5 years ago the fish were cookie cutter 14" and skinny. Those days you remember? Since then, the lake dropped to 1/5 its size, they stocked shad and silversides..the bass got big, thick...then this year no shad...lots of big'ens died..re-read the report and read others, too. The numbers are high because the fish are ravenous (uh, that means very, very hungry). But don't go, cause I'm really lying to compensate for a small fishing rod. Barrett From: Warren (66.159.204.237), California I was there last month and got between 120-130 myself. I have tickets for this Wed 13th. I saw the counts and they looked really bad. Did the fish go deep? Not really sure what to do now, last month I could have caught more but I stuck to the lures that I have never used before just for kicks. It slowed down my catch ratio a little but it was a blast.......... Barrett From: doc of BH (67.118.93.5), California Warren, Was in a boat yesterday (10th)..Got 120 or so. The fish got real bad, worse than I thought they would, since 2 weeks ago. At least 3/4 of them were skinny, gray bodied, spitting senkos, infested with varmints in their mouths. One of them, his jaw bent backwards when I landed him because his cartilage was so weak! My buddy tubed all day and claimed the fish were real good at the dam...but that's not what we saw. The smaller ones are doing better, and those that survive the next year will be those. There appears to be plenty of silversides, but these are small forage, and my guess is they aren't worth the effort to eat. Like you, I throw all my plastics that I've had for years..it doesn't really matter what color, size, shape or scent. I threw pig/jig all day, too We found that slow presentation with a sharp pop was the ticket. Barrett From: Warren (66.159.204.237), California Doc,we did over 40 each for sure. Sorry I couldn't find you and say Hi, I was a fishing "Zombie" I was really tired from not sleeping and had to drive there. Fished the boils all morning, it was wide open, and the fish were decent 2-3lbs average. Used white Flukes and Zshads, the biggest was about 6. Your not kidding about the bass being in bad shape. They were boiling all day. The poor fish were rolling like stripers on the small bait. They had to, they were the only fish on the lake that were in decent shape and put up a fight. All the rest of the fish were sluggish and had white eyes, the trip was cut short when the trolling motor took a dump on us at 10 when the seal on the motor leaked again and filled up with water. Whats up with Minn Kota? Really wish I was able to fish the evening topwater but we did leave em boiling.....Really a sad situation down there........Thanks for the report.
