Thats one heck of a first outing for smallies. Most people wont even see a 7 pounder in Idaho in their lives (the record is 8lbs 15oz). I fish tournaments in southern Idaho and 5.2 is the biggest I've ever seen weighed. Does the Pond Orielle have much current? Sounds like you had fun. Josh. Hey Josh From: Hoodoo2 (64.136.26.235), Idaho Hey Josh, From what I hear the Pend Oreille River (It's a kinda slow moving weedy river from about 5' to 25' deep.) is chuck full of monster Smallys, with lots of fish at 5# or more. It was a good day of fishing for sure. I think most people under-rate how good the bass fishing is here in North Idaho. We have some great Large Mouth fishing too. I have a lake near me that puts out some real monsters in the spring. We would get on average about 30 fish in an evening and about 10 of them were over 5# and almost none under 3#. With some that went over 7#, that some great fishing for anywhere in the country.
