Did you catch any smallmouth Bass??? We didn't keep any fish at all. From: Jason (66.14.227.64), California I went with Russ on Friday great fishing I noticed a few of the fish looked like they had been caught and released. Everything Russ said was accurate accept the clarity report, you could see the bottom at 20 ft. When the wind wasn't blowing. The clarity is amazing this fishing hole is amazing but I beleive it may have experienced a sort of Shock and Awe affect after Friday. We were hammerin em though most of the day Friday. Those worms we were using were 5" they worked much better than the 4" purple and red/black combos. Best day of fresh water fishing in my life. Fishing deeper was working the best. Just out of sight If visibility if 20ft fish at about 30 then retrieve toward the uphill stope to 20ft. In other words fish uphill. Great lake but tell everybody that its fished out so they won't go.
No small mouth bass From: Jason (66.14.227.64), California The only thing we caught besides Large mouth was a huge blue gill just 1 Bite is Getting Tougher! From: Rednekk (207.214.245.100), California Fished on Sunday, 10/5/03. Only caught 20, compared to the 200 we caught at an earlier event. I am not a biologist, but one has to wonder how long the bass will continue to be in "shock". I think the fish are stressed due to the number of boats, lots of hooks being stuck in their mouths, lots of man-handling, and getting pulled out of deep water. Also, a weather front moved through last weekend. How long it will last, I don't think anybody knows. I think a lot of people were surprised by how difficult it was to catch the bass on Sunday--it is no longer wide open (every other cast). I guess all the hype built up a lot of expectations. |
