Well, if you want to see how many boats could possible be on Lanier at one time, you missed your chance today. I have never seen that many boats at one time on the lower end. I dont know if there were any boating accidents but I would bet there was.

Got a kitchen pass from the wife today and decided to go over and fish the Superbass tournament. No partner today, I was solo. We blasted off, 30 mins after daybreak as usual, and I headed down toward the damm. The first 4 places I wanted to get on all had boats already on them. Finally, the 5th spot was vacant so I jumped on it. By 9:00, I had all the fish that I would have at weigh in. Could not seem to upgrade any during the day. I had 5 spots that went 16.13 which was good enough for 2nd. First place edged me out by 2 ounces at 16.39. I seem to have a hard time with the close tournaments. I need to blow it out to win. LOL.

My first fish came on a chug bug then the others, including the 14 keepers all day, came on a prototype jighead from Spotsticker. The jighead I have been fishing in a bit larger than the regular and I am fishing a ZOOM, Trick worm on it. It has a large , extra long shank hook which is good for 8 inch worms or so. We have been trying a bunch of different hooks on this head so we could get the right one. IF you like fishing a trick worm on a normal Texas rig, this head might be what your looking for. It seems to work well for fan casting deep water areas. I believe Donnie is calling it the "Spotsticker Mag" and it will be available soon in the 3/16 ounce size. Sorry for the delay but I was not happy with the first couple of hooks.

My fish today were 10-15 feet deep and very aggressive. Green Pumpkin and Sand ZOOM trick worms were the best for me. I concentrated on flats most of the day. The wave action will move the fish off the drops on the flats during the weekend.

Congrats to the winners, sorry I didnt catch the name. I believe I heard most of thier fish were on topwater.

If you are looking for a trail to fish this fall through the winter, look for the anouncement from Boating Atlanta. Lee and Kevin will have another trail this fall and it should be great. The do a much better job with the tournaments as well as the planning. Payouts and turnouts are fantastic. I will post info about the trail, once it becomes available.

Good luck out there and I still have some days for June if anyone is interested. I have some full days as well as night trips open. Most are in the later part of June and night time fising should be good.
