Fished Hagg Tuesday 09-07-2004 from 4:30 until I couldn't see anymore.

Thumbed in 11 Largemouth and 7 Smallmouth. Fishing is heating up!

More Hagg news for those interested: Spent about 20 minutes talking with The Hagg Lake Ranger, Richard, who has been working the lake for 23 years. He reports fishing has been slow for trout and bass fishermen, and also reports -

*Sturgeon remains have been found when the lake drops down *Four recent seperate reports of a black bear meandering about *Yes indeed, there is a family of Bald Eagles East of Sain Creek

While fishing Sain last Thursday I stumbled upon a family of four otters sharing a hefty rainbow trout. I was fortunate to have my camera, so drop me an email if you want to see these cute critters. By the way - fishing at Sain is now for LM only - smallies have moved out. Lots of baitfish jumping by shoals - a rapalla may be the ticket but stay at the drop offs!

I also have a few pictures of what may be a hybrid bass (cross LM and Smallmouth) that I hooked 08-11-2004. Anyone interested in seeing this strange fish - shoot me an email.

On another note - a group of us dedicated Hagg fishermen are going to hold a bass tournament soon - "The Hagg You Bet'cher Ass Bass Classic" will occur soon so drop me an email if this interests you. This is all about having fun, meeting people, and sharing Hagg fishing information, so no prizes involved. No livewells required - all contestants will weigh, release, and report totals at end of day.

Lastly - a bit of education! Richard tells me lake operations are severly underfunded and this keeps them from performing routine garbage collection as often as they'de like. I'd like to come up with a plan where those interested can meet at the lake and spend a few hours picking up after the armchair fishermen (bait containers, snags, etc). I'm sure this would be a big help to Richard and his staff, and to all of us that enjoy the serenity of Henry Hagg Lake.

Best Regards,

Grant C. Lansing
