East Coast Bass Anglers fished their monthly tournament on the Big O this date. My partner and I started off in Cody's Cove and only got one small fish at 13 inches in about an hour of fishing. We left out and headed for Kings Bar for about an hour with no hits. So down to Tin House Cove where we stayed for about 1/2 hours with no hits. We headed for MY FAVORITE HOLE on the North end of the lake. Once there I started with my spinner bait and about the 10th cast got hit by one that tangled me up in the lilly pads and I couldn't get her out. I think she was about 5 pounds (at least 4). Boy that sucks. We fished on for a spell and finally hooked one about 2 pounds and pit it in the live well. The about 15 minutes later I hooked in the 4 pounder and my partner got the net down and helped me get her in the boat. About an hour later I got another hit and put another 2 pounder in the boat. That was my 4th. My partner had 1 in the live well and it turned out to be a 11.15/16 inch fish. Short by 1/16. We decided to go to another spot and see if the action was any better. We had about 1 1/2 hours of fishing time left. About an hour of fishing my partner got one on a spinner bait that weighted in at about 2 pounds. However, since he had a short fish, when we got to the weigh in he lost this fish also. Anyway, that water under the bridge and he learned a valuable lesson. Don't Bring short fish to the scale. We finished 3rd overall in the tournament with my 8.47 pounds and we had big fish for the tournament with the 4.03 pounder. Not bad considering it kept me in the Top Spot for Angler of the Year in the club. But with one more tournament to fished this year, one good fish by the second place angler could wipe out the lead that I have. Second Place Angler of the Year Ken Hall with his partner Chuck Berger finished in Second Place for this tournament with a total of 10.96 pounds and first place honors went to Jim Coleman and Bob Miller with 11.90 pounds. Only three Anglers weighed in a 5 fish limit. A total of 38 fish were caught by all anglers that participated in the tournament. Stay tuned for next months results and the final determination for the Angler of the Year Trophy.
