I fished Conroe for the last couple of hours this afternoon. Went straight back to the hump I located and only caught a crappie on a spinnerbait. That little fish hit a 1oz BPS spinnerbait!!. Only hit I had, but the overcast had probably shut that bite down. I didn't fish anything slow because I only had a couple of hours until dark. Went to one of my favorite docks and fished it with a crankbait and rattlin rouge with no hits. Fished two bulkheads nearby with a black buzzbait and had one swirl and caught him on the next cast with a senko, short fish. I then fished a stretch of rocks I like for the last 45 minutes and boated one 3-2 on a frenzy crankbait in crawfish color. I had one more hit and hooked, but he came off. Lost the crankbait a few cast later on a catfish line or something and headed home. This front should have the fish moving closer to a ledge of some kind. Find the drop with your graph and look for any kind of cover. My favorite way to fish it is slow rolling a big spinnerbait. This method will get your arm broken on Rayburn and I've had some success with it on Conroe as well. Til next time.....
