Fished from the bank today at the Pump House on Hwy. 79. Caught two keepers on a Chartreuse Fire Tiger crank. I wanted to report what I caught, but I have another issue I want to talk about. Guys and girls, if we don't start exercising more courtesy on the water to our fellow fisherman, our sport is going to be in a worse off position than gill nets and boat marinas could ever cause. These are very serious and important problems that need to be addressed, but I'm so frustrated with the courtesy of fisherman in boats on Guntersville that many times I will change my mind about going there and go somewhere else. I know Guntersville has changed over the years and is now one of the best fisheries in the south. And with this comes more fisherman and more traffic, but the younger generations are seeing this type of behavior on the water and it's not a good example to make kids want to keep fishing when they get older. Yesterday, I had some jacka** pass within 20 yards of me while I was fishing. He was in an Evinrude sponsored boat and was eating chips and drinking soda and had no freakin idea of his surroundings. He obviously fishes for a living, so you would think someone like this would have one ounce of knowledge about others fishing. This same situation has happened to me countless times over the past year, once while I was fishing with my niece who is 7. I could talk about what happened for hours, but I just wanted to ask if we could start promoting more courtesy on the water. I see this to be a long term problem that could have damaging repercussions if we all don't get a handle on the situation now. Just use your heads.
