Fished the first event of the year Saturday at Tenkiller with my new club, Tulsa Southside Hookers Bass Club. Over the past 3 weeks water temps have stayed around 50-52 degrees, warmer than I would have thought. We had one area that we had found that had fish we thought we could get on both deep and shallow.

We drew #1 for take off and felt good that we would be able to get on our spot with out any pressure from others. After 3 hours our first spot gave up the big fish, 3 big sandies and a HUGE drum, which set the tone for the rest of the day. Long story short, we caught 2 slot fish that went 15 inches and 1 spot that we weighed at 1.90, not too dangerous (unless your at Skiatook!) and several more big sandies.

The guys that found them, FOUND EM'. Winning weight was 5 fish for 17.25!! second was around 15.5, what a heartbreaker. Big Bass was 6 and some change, caught by the second place team. Interestingly enough there were no Smallmouth weighed-in to my knowledge, I thought atleast a few would come to the scales.

17.25, wow, I figured going in that 13 or 14 would be a great day, I guess I was wrong. Congrats to the winners, what an impressive sack.
