Water Clarity: 0 I have been fishing Newton lake for the past 2 weeks. The NUMBER of people that fish this lake is incredible. I am not sure but I think most weekends have both parking lots full of rigs. This lake is fished "HARD" and often. I was shocked by the number of people that fish this lake during the week--dozens and dozens!
I have been catching some decent bass on deep diving crankbaits fishing on the hot water side. The water on the cold water side is still pretty cool.
This lake seems to have a fair number of 1-3 lb fish and a decent number of keepers (18") bass. My biggest has been 20+ "--caught her on a DD-22 in about 15' of water. My sense of things is that a majority of the fish on the hot water side have spawned or all spawning. The big female I caught was spawned out. When then plant is running a lotthe warm water side heats quickly.
I can't wait for it to get warm, the # of boats and fishing pressure on Newton has me put off a bit--I plan to fish some "regular" lakes in the next two weeks and hopefully find some prespawn bass.
