I fish Newton -Tuesday thru Friday(today). Warm side temps were from the ramp 63 to about 72 about 3 miles up Lake. Coldside was 55 all week except today it was 57.5. Bass are spawning on warmside and staging on coldside. I just fished for Big Momma s.The only thing that really worked for me was spinnerbaits in the wind. Carolina rigs did ok when I threw them but that was limited. I averaged about 10 bass a day(2 keeps). I could have went to warm side and threw small baits for babies but- Why go to Newton for that ? ? I was limited to trolling motor so developing patterns was impossble. Winds were very strong 20-30 mph most times but super early starts and wind strategies worked well. I talked to a few common weekday faces and there were alot of good size fish caught but everyone struggled a bit.Wind was strong today and then calmed down. I had some good luck with a tubes dragged semi deep with a 4 and a 5.5 in last 1.5 hours. I lost some nice fish and caught a few too.Once you are committed in a direction and a side with trolling motor - you are stuck. 5 boats on coldside last 2 days and about 20 on warmside.I ran into a jerk yesterday and one today- Nobody really on cold side and these yoyos pull right in front of me when I could not see a boat in any direction and probably haven't seen one pass me in a hour.I protected my spot on one and the guy was attempting to to get betwen me and the shore (25yrds). Yahoo ! A beautiful week to fish at Newton and I could not believe how deserted it was ? ? Baits that stunk for me- lizards, buzzbaits, cranks, rattl baits. Water was clear skys were high and weeds were tight to the shoreline- but on the warmside they were almost sunbathing one evening around 7pm when I came back for a few hours. I Actually caught a nice one pitching up on shore and dragging bait into weeds. Can anyone tell me what Lake Sara is doing now ? I was tempted to fish Sara this morning but when in Newton - FISH NEWTON ! Looking to hook up with someone who know the lake and has a 25 hp boat. Your spots are your spots !Just looking to fish and learn the lake better.Roy
