I got out for a few hours Saturday morning and the fish were biting! I got 9 bass in my first 11 casts. The biggest bass was over 3 pounds (did not check with scale ). I got a total of 18 only 4 fish under two pounds. Same pattern as before but the fish were out in a bit deeper water (8' - 12'). I missed about 3 others and 1 come off before landing. Drop shot was the most productive. I also uses some smelly jelly (craw & salt). It was good to see the river was moving. It was the first time this year I was fishing in current . My fishing buddy is getting small mouth out of the Columbia river in the Portland area now. I have the 12 days off at the end of this month The bass are starting to move near their spawning grounds now in the Columbia.
