Water Clarity: 2-3 feet Just returned from a trip with Terry Hollan of Lake Baccarac Lodge. First let me say, excellent accomdations, excellent food and service from Rene and his staff is the best I have seen at any fishing lodge I have been.
Rene told us the first morning that there where so many fish in the lake he could not even belive it. He was correct! The first day we caught and released 26 fish over 5 pounds with 3 over 8 and 2 fish over 9.5 and 2 fish over 10.7. All fish caught on the open water humps and the long points in 25 ft of water. Heavy line but very little small weights worked best. Red Shad worms was the best for us but others did better with Watermelon. We had some crankbait action but very little compared to the other boats. Our guide Juan'a ???? was excellent an guide he knew about the structure and the times the fish would be feeding. Day 2 and 3 were also excellent days on the water with a few smaller fish caught on topwater and one more fish over 10 pounds. We averaged 70 fish a day per boat.
Make sure you choose the charter flight into the strip near the lodge.
