  Subject: Lake Huites, Mexico

Submitted by Brett Graham (ip 208.14.27.41)

Date Fished: 5/4/2005
Water Clarity: 0

For the weeks of April 15-31 Temperature Night: 61 Day: 80-88 Water temp: 72 Average number of bass per boat: 100+ Average size of bass per boat: 3-8 lbs. Largest bass caught this week: 10 lb-2 ozs

Best ures: Lizards and worms in watermelon and pumpkin seed 8-10”; Spinner baits in chartreuse and white; Swim Baits / chart-pearl worked deep or shallow; Big Jigs in watermelon on the banks; Big Crankbaits (DD22, Fat Free Shad); Top water baits early and late; Water clarity is clear

Additional Info: The lake is full, the water is clear everywhere and the fishing is the best we have seen in two years! One of our clients who has fished Lake Huites almost every year since it opened says this is as good as he has ever seen it. Boats are averaging over 100 fish per day per boat. The impressive part of the reports, however, continue to be the impressive size of the fish. While no giants have been caught in the last two weeks, a large number of fish in the 4-8 pound range are being reported, with fish up to 10 pounds caught. As is typical for Lake Huites on post spawn/early summer patterns, the fish are coming on virtually any pattern, any lure, from 0-25 feet deep. The bigger fish are coming on shad pattern deep diving crankbaits, and watermelon lizards with chartruese tail. Swim baits, topwaters, and carolina rigged brushhogs also producing. . As the bass continue to move out to the main lake structure, they will bunch up more and more. The patterns and locations should remain the same until the end of the season (June 15th), and improve each day as the fish bunch up. As we get into May and June, you need to be prepared for some hot weather in the middle of the day. However, as any of you who have been down to Mexico know, the hotter the weather, the hotter the fishing! Please remember the season ends June 15th, so time is running out. There is a lot happining at Trophy Bass Lodge over the next few weeks so now is the time to join in the activities. We will be filming with our good friends from ESPN Shake, Rattle and Troll Radio and Arizona Outdoors Don McDowell and Kip Polley. Kip will be joined by Glenn Willis from Azod as he, Don and David Fields film Azod's new Sportsman's Heritage Show for Fox Sports Network. Ron Barbosa will also join us in May as we film a segment for Huntin' Biz Magazine. Then in late May Ranger Dave Masterson joins the Trophy Team with Trophy Quest Filmed Adventures. Several of the Trophy Team, myself included, will be down throughout the month filming for our show next season, Bassin’ Mexico on the Mens Channel. It's going to be a blast...so come on down for some great fishin'... make some new friends and reacquaint with some old.We have some spots still left, scattered throughout the month.
