Date Fished: 4/27/2005
Water Temperature: 75
Water Clarity: 0

There were 4 of us and we fished 4 days, weather was 60/87 sunny all four days. lake was 20'-25' below full pool. pool went down 6'to 8'more feet while we were there. we caught 16 and 20 fish a day first two days. mostly 3 and 4 pounders one6.2 pounder. fishing 8" watermellon seed and pumpkin seed lizards, 1 ounce rattle traps and 1/2-3/4 ounce white spinner baits with white trailers. third and fourth days were the best fishing we ever had in mexico for big fish. one in our party caught a 14 pounder, 12 pounder. another caught 11 pounder. all three caught on 1/2 ounce white spinner bait with 4 small willow leafs and a white trailer. another caught an 8.12, 9.8, and 9.15 in less than an hour and half on 8" lizard described above. top water was fair in the morning with anytype of pop-r, johnny rattler,or zara spook and excellent from 7:00 p.m. until dark. one 10,tw0 7.5's, and 7.2 caught on top water and a couple larger ones lost but seen breaking the water before they spit the lure out. top water explosions like we had never heard before. we probably caught 50 fish or more a day the last two days a lot of 3,4,5, and 6 pounders. we fished from 6:00 a.m. until noon and then returned at 3:00 p.m. and fished until dark at 8:00 p.m. every afternoon the wind was fierce and white capped until about 5:00 p.m. or 5:30 p.m. we caught fish during the afternoon on rattle traps and spinnerbaits even in the heavy winds. there were 4 others there from spartanburg, s. c. who had caught 12.4, and several 10's, and 5 others from arizona who had caught a lot of 8's and 9's with swim baits (large). the baccarac lodge is a first class operation in accommodations, food, and service. we would highly recommend this trip to anyone interested in catching trophy fish. if you want to catch a 100 fish a day and not interested in how big they are you maybe should try somewhere else. lake baccarac is a trophy fish lake. one in our group has been going to mexico fishing since 1980 and the rest of us have been going down since 1990 and all agreed this was the best trip we ever had and we been to 6 different impoundments. guys from spartanburg had been to huites 7 times and agreed this was the best of their trips. no one can guarantee you fish and no matter where you go you still have to catch 'em. happy fishing.
