Wow!!!! Our group of 10 fishermen out of Alabama experienced a trip of a lifetime at Lake Baccarac Lodge. Thanks to Rene and all the staff and guides at the lodge. The food, service and accomodations were second to none. Our group took the charter flights out of Texas and it is highly reccomended. Thanks to Ricky and Mike the pilots you were both great. After landing we were only 15 minutes from the lodge. This is my seventh year to fish Mexico ( Guerrero, Huites, El Salto ) and some in the group have fished Mexico for over 10 years. No other trip compared to this one for anyone in the group. Of our 10 fishing, 8 set personal records and one tied his best catch ever. Here is a very accurate breakdown of the three days for all our group. 25 @ #5+, 31 @ #6+, 15 @ #7+, 9 @ #8+, 10 @ #9+, 7 @ #10+, 4 @ #12+ 1 @ 13.4 lbs. Never have any of us seen such numbers of quality fish. Rarely did you catch a fish under 3 pounds. It got to the point where catching a 6 to 8 pound fish was just another catch. And the 4 and 5 pound fish will absolutly wear you out. I personally caught a total of 37 fish for the 3 days, 12 Wed, 8 Thur 17 Fri, of these 37 16 were over 5 and up to 12.75 pounds. I was fortunate to catch 2 over 12 during the three days. On Friday my top 5 fish weighed a total of 44.8 pounds. If you want lots of numbers go elsewhere, but for a chance to catch a Grande, Baccarac is the place! I have been to lakes and caught close to 100 a day and I will take the size over the numbers any trip. All I can say is you had better hang on tight, you are only a cast away at any time to hooking a Grande!!! This lake is something special, I hope it can hold up for years to come. We will be back to try and tame the waters again, the good Lord willing but I can assure you not soon enough. Everyone is already looking forward to another chance. Take plenty of Storm swim baits, 5" and 6" Pearl is hot now. Also take chartreuse dip. I fished this bait almost exclusively for the three days. Thanks again to all at Lake Baccarac Lodge for a trip we shall never forget. Jeff Darden JDARDEN@BHAM.RR.COM
