Water Clarity: 1 foot Fished a small water treatment lake in Mercer County Sunday evening from 3:30 to 6:30pm. Water was pretty muddy, bordering on chocolate milk. Started out throwing a shallow running crankbait and a spinnerbait at visible cover which was mostly laydown logs along rocky banks. Ended up switching to a texas rigged worm pretty quickly, and ended up catching five largemouth on five hits. All of them but one were keepers, with the largest around 16 inches long. Nothing spectacular size wise, but a heck of a lot better than being skunked.
All fish came on the worm which had to be crawled along, couldn't work it fast at all. All bites came on the drop, and were solid hits and real easy to see because the line would just start swimming off. Ended up being a nice evening on the water. I was glad we didn't get the rain we were supposed to, even the wind died down right after I put in. It was my first fishing trip for this year, so I've gotten a late start. It was a great evening on the water, and a great way to start out the fishing year for me.
