Date Fished: 5/29/2005
Water Temperature: 54
Water Clarity: 2-3 feet

Hi fellow bassers, Well, we started out the day with (what else) RAIN, but no wind so it looked to be a good day weather wise on the water. (as we all know it's always a good day on the water)We stared out with some top water as we saw some bass busting on the surface but no takers, so we went with worms and rattletraps and still no one seemed interested so i said lets go to the shore and flip jigs as the water is very high in the pond. The shoreline in a couple of places are loaded with wood and the largemoths this time of the year just hang around it. We went to the shore and i went with a jig and my friend started with a worm and within 20 yards we boated 8 of the 20 largemouths we caught today. They were just like the smallies yesterday on the river, tucked right up tight to wood. The jigs were the bait of the day as they just crushed them as we saw several fish with crawfish in their mouths and we matched the hatch and just had a great day flipp'n jigs. The biggest was a very fat 5 pounder caught in about 1 foot of water under a log. I flipped over to it and as the jig touched the water, "KERSPLASH" i landed it on top of it and it took out some drag and around the boat and back to the log before i landed it. Most of the largemouths averaged 2.8 pounds with some in the 3 to 4 pound range. We ended going up a stream to see what was up it as we thought it might be warmer but it was the same as the pond but we did end up catching some very fat fish up it so it was worth the trip up. Sorry the report is so long but i wanted to give you the best info on this pond. The only problem with this pond is the best way to fish it is on your trolling motor as it is very shallow 2-6 feet on avg. and LOADED with stumps everywhere throughout it. Jet boats are at there best here. Take care friends and have a happy memorial day, DAVID
