Mid Lake-Kimberling City Area The bass are moving out to deeper water and getting on their summer pattern. Fish are in a transition period from coming off the nest and are roaming around on shad schools and alot of the fish are suspended. Bass can be caught with Split Shot and Carolina rig from 10-20 feet deep on gravel points, near the mouths of coves and main lake points. Fish are starting to hit drop shot rigs around 15-25 feet deep on main lake points and flats. Football head jig are also good on main lake gravel points around 15-20 feet deep. Top water is good early in the morning, late in the evening and on cloudy days. Zara Spooks and Cordell Redfins are best for the bass. White bass are showing up in most areas, schooling on gravel flats and can be caught on small poppers, rattle traps or grubs.

Lower End-Damn Area What's working on the main lake area is also working up around the damn. The damn area has had unusual color for the past three weeks. Fish can also be caught on deep diving crank baits like DD-22's and Fat Free Shad on main lake gravel on windy days.

Upper End-James River The bulk of the bass have spawned and are getting on their summer patterns of main lake flats and structure. Carolina Rigged centipede and brush hogs in watermelon red are working well. Fish will also hit 3/4 oz. football head jigs in brown and purple or peanut butter and jelly. Deep diving Crank Baits like DD-22's and Fat Free shad in shad patterns like black and white or chartreuse and blue on flat main lake points near channel drops.

Bluegill Bluegill are starting to bite real well in 6-15 feet in all areas of the lake. Crickets are best.
