Water Clarity: 4 feet or greater Sue and I took a trip to our campsite in Maine Acton Maine and heard the fish were just starting to bite in the area.....classic understatement. I had the best two days of fishing I can ever recall. We boated app. 75 smallmouth on day one with several in the 4 lb. range and 20-30 3-3 1/2 lb. range with nothing under 2. Day two was even better with smallies coming in at about a dozen fish and hour (and we fished 11 hours!!) and the bite was on all day long. The smallies were fit and FAT and I boated my largest smallmouth ever at just under 6 lbs. (see attached pic). This fish was caught right at dusk and was in about 4 ft. of water chasing bait fish. Threw a very loooooong cast with a sammy just past the baitfish and it hit after the first twitch of the bait. The aerials from that far away from the boat were AWESOME and the fight on 8lb. test line was a rush. Sue, who has only been fishing a short time, boated a dozen fish over 3 lbs and one at 4 lbs. This trip was the most incredible two days of fishing boat well over 150 smallies and maybe 10 largemouths........you gotta love the great state of Maine!!! till next time.....
