Water Clarity: 1 foot This report is for Thursday, June 9th. Took my boys, Robbie & Matt, ages 8 & 5 to my neighbors pond so they could practice for the Mason County Family Resource Network Parent/Child fishing derby that will be held on Saturday, June 11th. They did pretty good too. They both caught about 12 hybrid sunfish each using Berkley Gulp brown earthworms and the yellow corn nuggets. I also spooled up their 202's with 10lb test Berkley vanish fluorocarbon line and the invsibility of it really helped them get more bites. I managed to catch a 14" 1 lb 9 oz spotted bass (yeah, a spotted bass in a 1/2 acre farm pond!) that charged out from the lilly pads and clobbered my Strike King Tennesee Diamond Blade spinnerbait. It's a 3/8 oz bait with tandem gold hammered Indiana blades and a firetiger skirt. That bass was sure strong as it felt like it was going to jerk the rod out of my hands. Those spots are twice as strong as any largemouth. I fished that spinnerbait on a 5 1/2' med/hvy Berkley Lightnin' Rod Pro series with an Ambassadeur 5000c spooled with 12 lb Berkley Trilene Big game. We fished from 10:00 am 'till 11:30 am when it started getting hot.
