Water Clarity: 4 feet or greater Fished East Grand Lake in Weston/Danforth Maine on 7/20 from 0900-1600. Found the smallies to be suspending in depths between 12-25'
Most found at the mouths of large coves with deep rocky drop-offs about 100' from shore. Got on schools of 3+lb smallies all day! All they would hit was soft plastics. I threw spinners,buzzes,cranks,ratl traps and jitter bugs with no luck. They were killing the plastics. Whether Texas rigged, C-rigged or on jig heads. Best luck with C-rigged BassPro stick-o lizards, Senkos and Culprit worms. The fish were actively feeding on bait fish as every hooked fish was throwing up minnow remains. A steady wind pattern for 3 days drove in the baitfish. Any soft plastic dropped down 10+ feet worked. Bright greens and reds seemed to work best. Landed at least (15) 3+lb fish in 5 hours.
