Went out fishing today with my son. The weather was spectacular and we were looking forward to great time on the water. Launched the boat and was prepaired to motor up river a bit when I noticed fish were breaking the water just down stream from us. Curious, but having some idea what kind of fish they were, I asked my son to get his spinnerbait rod ready. With rod in hand and dad motoring slowly up to the now growing area of feeding fish, excitement gets the best of him and he makes a cast. Two cranks of his Stradic and his rod is put to work. After a brief fight it was a much expected schoolie striper about 13" long. Well my game plan for the day was now in limbo. This was going to be a great fishing experience for the both of us and I wanted to full advantage of it. An hour and a half later with over 75 hooked and released fish and fish still breaking the water, my son and I were all done. All the fish were in that 12"-14" slot. Every one faught as if they were twice that size. What a time for the both of us. We then went up stream to do some bass fishing and ended up with two fish. It was a slow bite day. The current was almost dead since the tide was almost finished coming in. My son managed to get the biggest( 2.50 LGM) on a Lunker City Ozmo rigged Texas style fished in about 10' of water. My smaller smallmouth was caught on a 5" senko with no weight. Best of luck!!
