Water Clarity: 4 feet or greater I went up over Labor day and pretty much did what I normally do. Drove up on Sat so I didn't fish. Sun fished 7-11 and caught 5 fish, maybe 10-11 lbs. Not so good. Wind blew too much to sit on area and fish slow. Bites came on spinnerbait. But boat was too hard to hold and fish effectively. I was really disappointed. Tried spinnerbaits after I saw a couple caught by another boat but to no avail.
Mon went back out determined to do better. fished same areas managed 25 fish, best 5 was 17 lbs. had a 4-3 lmb and 3-2 smb fishing areas you described plus one other. Tried some new areas but with no luck. Still caught better fish on brush hog. watermelon seed. caught some on spinnerbait. tandem willow 3/8 in white and green. Managed to lose one monster in weeds on brush hog. I pitch into a bunch of weeds into the wind and was letting the bait settle to bottom and feel asleep, by the time I realized the water wasn't 10 feet deep the fish and wrapped the line in the weeds. fish were suspended in 4-7 feet of water and weeds just below the surface in 2-3 feet. I tried the frog and rat and buzz bait to no avail. Sun was too bright I guess. who knows.
I fished several new areas but not even a bite. guess I need to expand out and try some new areas next time. I won't be back until Oct. So it should be very different.
