Water Clarity: 4 feet or greater After a slow start on Monday at the Veazie Dam and Tuesday at Hermon pond, the next three days were spent around the Costigan launch. We started fishing the current side of the islands with tubes and grubs sometimes plain, sometimes with safety-pin spinners. This brought the biggest fish,in the three days we hit five over 3lbs and three over 4lbs. The fastest action though was when we went between the silt islands and the shore and beat the weeds. Alternating Rapalas and 4" worms in the standing weeds and grubbs with spinner and 4" worms in the deeper weeds, we took about twenty bass each and lots of pickerell each day, except Friday which was almost all bass.Most of the bass in this area were between 1 and 2 1/2lbs
The weather changed each day too, Wednsday there was wind, Thursday it was rain and Friday fog. With the coming of Ophelia and the forcast for steady rain we cut the trip short by one day. But this will be a long remembered excursion to the pine tree state.
