My wife an I went to The Fish Pond, in Buffalo, today. The Fish Pond is a two acre pay lake located at the foot of the Buffalo bridge that crosses from rt 62 over to rt 35. This is not your typical pay lake either, where most of them only have catfish in them and then are stocked with trout in the winter. This pond is full of bass up to 20", blugill, crappie, and also catfish. We got there just before 11:00 am and fished until 1:00 pm because I had to go to work later. The pond has lots of standing timber, laydown logs, stumps and some shoreline weeds. My wife caught 15 fish in the two hours we were there, 10 crappie and five bluegill. Her biggest crappie was about 9" long and she caught a hybrid sunfish about 8" long. All of her fish were caught on a 1/8th ounce Strike King Bitsy Pond Minnow crankbait that was chartruese with a green back. She later lost it when a big fish (she said all she saw was its tail) wrapped her line around a log and broke off. For a while it did'nt look like I was going to catch anything at all. I had tried a 1/8th oz. chartruese Booyah Pond Magic buzzbait, which only got one half hearted slap by a nice bass but it even missed the trailer hook. Next I tried a 5" Strike King 3X Zero(watermelon/red flake)rigged wack style and the normal, weightless way. I then tried a 3/8th oz. chartreuse Booyah Blade spinnerbait with tandem gold willowleaf blades, and then a 1/2 oz. chrome/blue Rat-L-Trap, and still had nothing to show for it. Finally with about 10 minutes to go until we had to leave, I caught my biggest bass of the year so far. It was 16 and 1/8" long and weighed 2 lbs, 5oz. I caught it on a white/yellow back Strike King Bitsy Pond Minnow crankbait as I reeled it past a stump. It was a good fight on 8lb test line and a medium action spinning outfit. I then turned it loose after weighing and measuring it and having a couple of pictures taken. <")))><
