Hi fellow bassers, made it back to the river today and again I wasn't dissapointed with the results. The water level is still high by about 4-6 feet so I started with a white buzzbait throwing it up against the bank. I put in at the Old Town landing and stayed at that end of the river all day. I was fishing around some islands and fished as close as I could get but after an hour of casting and reeling I went to a jig and within the third flip nailed an 18.6" smallie that was in 6-8 feet of water on a mud bank. I had another one chase my jig back to the boat about 20 yards later but no taker. The next thing I went to (no surprise) was my spinnerbait to get some fish that might be out away from shore chasing baitfish. I found smallies all around the island I was fishing but they still were not schooled up. I fished for 6 hours and covered alot of water and caught several quality smallies but it took switching back and forth from a spinnerbait and jig to get them as it didn't seem they were in any sort of a pattern. Some were in 1-4 feet of water while others were on a steep drop from 2- 10 feet of water. I like this kind of fishing as it pays off when you find one. Here is what I ended up with today in order as I caught them.... 18.6, 18.6, 16.6, 14, 16, 17, 16.6, 17, 18, and 14. The fish was scattered but when you found one, the fight was one. The fishing is only going to get better from here as the water temp slowly goes down and the smallies start to feed in schools, can't wait.... Take care friends and I'll be talking to ya soon, DAVID
