Water Temperature: 81
Water Clarity: 2-3 feet

Date: Sat Dec 3 08:39:12 2005 Home Page: www.lakebaccaraclodge.com Hottest Baits: topwater, 8 inch lizards, rattletraps Hottest Colors: Date / Time Fished: this week Wrote...I just returned from five days down at the lodge. Last weekend, Kenny Crutcher of El Paso returned for the second weekend in a row and brought his son, and on his son's first cast, they caught a 12.12. Also had good numbers of fish caught throughout the day on topwater and it seems that quiet moving baits such as Zara Spooks and Excalibur Spitting Image are working better than popping and noisy baits. Danny Westfall from Arizona was at the lodge and reported upon my arrival that he had caught three fish over 10 lbs. and 80 fish on topwater before lunch and the first fish after lunch was a fish that weighed in at more than 12 lbs. Tim Ruddick, while fishing with our guide, Enrique, caught the big fish for his group, an 11.2. Gilbert Mann of Amarillo, Texas, in three days of fishing, had 276 fish caught, mostly on topwater and fish up to 6 lbs. Carl Douglas caught two fish over 10 lbs the first morning he had ever bass fished. So as you can tell from this report, the fishing remains good to excellent. It does seem like the numbers of topwater fish are declining slightly for the mornings are getting cooler and cooler and we noticed a weather change during this past week. I personally had good luck fishing 8 inch watermelon seed lizards in the creek channels in the back of the coves. We also used jigging spoons in the deeper channels and caught many quality fish following the channel from the mouth of the cove to the back of the cove. The rattletrap bite is starting to return, along with the deep diving crank baits. Barring any drastic weather change, I predict we are going to have good fishing the rest of the month and the season. Hope to see y'all at the lodge!
