  Subject: Noxontown Pond, Delaware

Submitted by Greg Doyle (ip 67.62.237.226)

Date Fished: 1/31/2006
Water Clarity: 0

As we near the warmer weather of the spring (though winter has been quite kind so far), I wanted to publish the schedule for the St. Andrew's School boat ramp on Noxontown Pond.

The ramp is open Sundays only from March 1 until June 30, with the exception of the following closed dates.

March 19
May 14
May 28
June 11
June 18

From July 1 until October 31, the ramp is open daily, excepting the following closed dates.

July 22-23
August 19
September 3
October 28-29

There may be unexpected closure dates, but we will do our best to provide notice and/or posted reminders at the gate for the week prior to a closure date.

When access to the ramp is provided, please remember that the ramp area must be vacated of all people and vehicles BEFORE dusk or 8 p.m., WHICHEVER COMES FIRST. When daylight is scarce in the spring, that means the ramp will close WELL BEFORE 8 PM. Conversely, in the summer, when daylight stretches beyond 8 PM, access to the ramp does not. It will close at 8 pm, regardless of the existence of summer daylight. Please respect these terms.

Other rules and terms of ramp usage are clearly posted at the gate and launching ramp. Please read and respect them. The most important of these is adherence to the Delaware Code specifically limiting the size of engines used on Noxontown to 5-HP. Ramp users must also comply with the area restrictions along all northern and northwestern campus and residential shorelines. Best practice is to avoid any area or cove where you can see a school building further inland. A map is posted at the launching ramp to clearly define the areas of concern. If you are asked by campus or security personnel to leave an area, please do so immediately.

Each year, the season seems to run smoother, thanks to the many kind people who come and fish within the terms of usage. Please do your best to spread that energy and keep it alive.

Sincerely,

Greg Doyle
St. Andrew's School
