Subject: Lay Lake (BFL), Alabama Submitted by Spotsticker Baits
Date Fished: 3/19/2006 I fished the Lay BFL on Saturday with cloudy, cool and windy conditions for the most part . I fished pretty good with a couple of mistakes that would hurt at the end of the day but for the most part I did okay . My partner and I would start on a couple of near by points where I connected on my first cast only to rush the fish and break her off ( never saw the fish ) I tried to turn the fish before it was ready ! (Real Smart) I would quickly limit with small spots and largemouth and have a couple more pull off . The funny part of the day was I broke my kill switch clip and had to use a marker buoy and my knee to hold the button in to run ! LOL I will let ya'll figure out how easy that is to do with 188 boats running all over lay . We made a run to my fartherest location and was surprised not to see a boat on it when we got there ! We eased up and the first cast a 2.4 culling one . I made several more cast culling a few more . I stuck another good one that come off the drop and headed for deeper water and pulled off . I regained composure and lost only one other small fish the restof the day but could not get but one more that would cull. I would end up with 10.4 and tied for 51st place . All of my fish came on 3/16 oz spotsticker heads with either red bug or key lime pie spotsticker hand poured worms from 6 to 12 feet of water . I was happy to hear co-angler's Brian Rozzell and matt Driver did well and caught thier fish on spotsticker jigheads . Brian would finish 3rd and matt about 9th.
